A Christmas Of Care Connection And Community
Rejoice Resource Centre Christmas Party 2026
Christmas is a season of joy, giving and togetherness. Yet for many older people, carers, vulnerable individuals, people living with disabilities and those experiencing loneliness or social isolation, the festive period can also be a difficult time.
This December, Rejoice Resource Centre is creating a welcoming space where people can celebrate, connect and feel valued.
On Friday, 18 December 2026, Rejoice Resource Centre will host its Christmas and End-of-Year Party at St. Boniface Hall, 185 Mitcham Road, London SW17 9PG, bringing together service users, carers, families, volunteers, supporters and members of the wider community for an afternoon of food, music, games, laughter and friendship.
More Than a Christmas Party
The Christmas Party is more than a social gathering. It reflects the wider mission of Rejoice Resource Centre: to promote compassion, dignity, inclusion and meaningful community connection.
Rejoice Resource Centre supports people from different backgrounds, particularly those who may be vulnerable, disadvantaged, elderly, lonely or socially isolated. Through community activities, welfare support, social gatherings and practical assistance, the organisation seeks to create environments where people feel welcomed and respected.
At Christmas, that sense of belonging becomes even more important. For an elderly service user, the party may be an opportunity to leave the house, enjoy a festive meal and spend time surrounded by friendly faces. For someone who has experienced loneliness, it may offer much-needed companionship. For a person living with a disability, it provides an inclusive environment where they can participate and enjoy the season alongside others. The message is simple: You are seen. You are valued. You belong
Celebrating Service Users and Carers
At the heart of the celebration are the people Rejoice Resource Centre exists to support. Every service user has a story, personality, experience and contribution to make. The Christmas Party provides an opportunity to celebrate individuals not simply because they receive support, but because they are valued members of the community.
The event will also recognise the important contribution of carers. Caring for another person often requires patience, sacrifice, compassion and resilience. Many carers work quietly behind the scenes, helping with meals, appointments, medication, mobility, personal care, companionship and emotional support. As a gesture of appreciation, carers will receive free entry to the Christmas Party. It is Rejoice Resource Centre’s way of saying thank you to those who dedicate so much of their time to supporting others.
Food, Music, Games and Christmas Cheer
Guests can look forward to an enjoyable afternoon and evening featuring food, drinks, games and music. But behind each activity is something deeper.
A shared meal becomes an opportunity for fellowship. Music creates moments of happiness and remembrance. Games encourage participation and conversation. A simple introduction can become the beginning of a new friendship. These experiences are particularly valuable for people who may not have regular opportunities to socialise.
Rejoice Resource Centre’s wider work includes community outreach, social connection, welfare assistance, family support, care packages and initiatives aimed at reducing isolation. The Christmas Party brings many of these values together in one festive celebration. Christmas decorations, gifts and entertainment are wonderful, but the most important part of the day will be the people. It will be about seeing carers laughing alongside service users, families connecting with volunteers, elderly guests enjoying conversation and people from different cultures and backgrounds sitting together as one community.
Building a Stronger Community
Loneliness and hardship cannot be solved by one event, but meaningful relationships can begin with one encounter.
- One invitation can make someone feel remembered.
- One shared meal can open the door to friendship.
- One conversation can remind someone that they are not alone.
That is why community events matter.
Rejoice Resource Centre seeks to create opportunities where individuals, families, volunteers and community members can meet, support one another and develop lasting relationships. Its work is built around the values expressed in its own identity:
The Christmas Party is a practical expression of these values. It welcomes people irrespective of age, nationality, cultural background or personal circumstances and provides an opportunity for everyone to participate in the joy of the season.
How You Can Support
The success of community events like this depends on people who are willing to give their time, skills and resources.
Members of the public can support Rejoice Resource Centre by attending the event, volunteering, contributing towards meals or activities, supporting a service user to attend, partnering with the organisation or simply helping to spread the word.
Businesses, community organisations, churches and individuals are also encouraged to support initiatives that help vulnerable people and strengthen community relationships.
Every contribution matters.
Sometimes compassion is financial support. Sometimes it is volunteering for a few hours. Sometimes it is helping serve food, welcoming a guest or simply sitting beside someone and listening.

Together, We Rejoice
Christmas becomes more meaningful when joy is shared. It becomes more meaningful when an elderly person who might have spent the day alone is surrounded by people who care. It becomes more meaningful when carers are appreciated, when service users are celebrated and when people from different backgrounds come together around the same table.
On 18 December 2026, Rejoice Resource Centre hopes to create exactly that atmosphere: a room filled with laughter, conversations, music, food, friendship and genuine human connection.
It will be a celebration of the year that has passed, but also a reminder of what can be achieved when communities choose compassion over isolation and togetherness over loneliness.
Because Christmas is ultimately about people. It is about love, joy, peace and community. When we support one another, care for one another and create room for everyone to belong, together, we rejoice.
